How To Remove A Title Block From A Template Revit

If you created a title block using another CAD awarding, y'all can import it into Revit Architecture. Some text in the imported championship cake may reflect data that is specific to the projection or sheet. Replace this text with Revit parameters and so that the information can update automatically.

To import a title cake

  1. In the CAD application, do the following:
    1. Prepare the title block. For case, remove unwanted text, or text that y'all program to supercede with Revit parameters.
    2. Consign the title cake to a DXF or DWG file.
  2. In Revit Architecture, create the title cake, as follows:
    1. Click New (Title Block).
    2. In the New Title Block dialog, select the appropriate sheet size for the title block, and click Open.

If the imported title block uses a not-standard size, select New Size.rft, and click Open up.

  3. Import the title block, as follows:
    1. Click Insert tab Import panel (Import CAD).
    2. In the Import CAD Formats dialog, navigate to the location of the championship block file to import.
    3. For Files of type, select the blazon of file to import.
    4. For File name, specify the file to import.
    5. Specify the desired import options.

See Import and Link Options for CAD Formats and Revit Models .

    6. Click Open.

If you cannot run into the imported title block in the drawing area, blazon ZF (Zoom to Fit).

  4. If needed, adjust the defined print area.

When you selected a championship block size in the New dialog, Revit Compages placed lines in the cartoon area. These lines define the size of the printed folio (the print area) for the sail. If the imported title block is larger or smaller than the selected title block size, drag the lines to the edges of the title block.

  5. If needed, explode the imported file.

If the imported title block includes text, perform a total explode to separate the imported object into its component objects. (See Exploding Imported Geometry .) And so you tin delete the text in the title block and supersede it with Revit labels. (When you add a canvass to a project, these labels update to display project-specific or canvas-specific information.)

    To explode the imported file:

    1. In the drawing expanse, select the imported championship block.

The status bar displays the following:

Imports in Families : Import Symbol : location <Not Shared>.

    2. Click Change | Imports in Families tab Import Example panel Explode drop-down Full Explode.

Y'all tin now select individual lines or pieces of text to movement or delete them.

  6. Supersede projection-specific or canvas-specific text from the imported title block with Revit labels.

For example, if the imported title block includes the text Client Name as a placeholder, select this text and delete information technology. Then replace it with the Projection Proper noun parameter that Revit Architecture provides, or another parameter that you have divers. Run across Adding Custom Fields to a Title Block .

  7. Make any other changes required.
  8. To save the championship block, on the Quick Admission toolbar, click (Salve).
  9. Load the title block into a project template or a project where you want to use information technology.

See Loading a Championship Cake into a Project .
